Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better popularly known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She dropped her debut EP with the label on October 21 of 2016, entitled Pho, and she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music on the internet back in 2012 after she launched her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014, she dropped further music online including Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at the time was interested in having her create Rihanna references. On the 8th of December, it was reported that she had hired by Dreamville Records. In the Album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared on the track Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas as her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. On the 9th of November she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On the 13th of November she released two more singles: the No One as well as Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On the 16th of November, and dropped the song as a single by herself for the album she released her debut. A music video came out on February 20, 2019 for the track. Within the first week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
